Guida
George Guida
is an incorporating officer of IAWA, and co-edits its monthly
newsletter, as well as the newsletter of the American Italian
Historical Association.
His publications include The Peasant and the Pen (Lang, 2003),
essays on Italian American narrative; and Low Italian (Bordighera,
2006), poems; as well as other poems, stories, and essays in Inkwell,
The Paterson Literary Review, Poetry New York, PMLA, MELUS, The
Journal of Popular Culture, Italian Americana, Voices in Italian
Americana, and other journals and collections. He has just completed
two new collections of poems*New York and Other Lovers and I Laugh at Death*and is currently
working on a novel.
Guida is Associate Professor of English
at CUNY’s New York City College of Technology and Adjunct Lecturer
in Italian American and immigration studies at SUNY-Stony Brook.
An frequent reader and performer of his
work, he co-founded and co-hosts the Intercollegiate Poetry Slam
at the Bowery Poetry Club.
